About
C.O.P.S.
Hi! Carl
Scarbrough here again. As I mentioned on the home page, I'm the owner of
C.O.P.S. (Company Of Problem Solvers) Home Repair.
In 1981 I
began a career in law enforcement. My two brothers, Gary
Scarbrough, and Tim Scarbrough were also police officers. At one
point
in all of our careers, we all worked for the same police department in
central Florida - and so did all of our wives!
Before
getting into law enforcement however, I grew up helping my father.
My father, now deceased, was a professional carpenter his entire
life. I worked with him on thousands of projects not just around
our own home (which my father built by hand himself) but for people who
owned some of the most expensive mansions in our city.
I learned
the building trade and the importance of attention to craftsmanship from my father.
But I also learned other important lessons as well. Lessons that
have carried over into my own business. My father instilled in me
a pride in doing a good job, doing a job right the first time, and
treating people fairly. He taught me ways to save the customer
money without sacrificing the quality of materials used or the quality
of work performed.
I
went on to a career as a journeyman electrician before becoming
interested in a career in police work. While a police officer, I
served in the roles of Uniformed Officer, Detective, Marine Patrol
Officer, Traffic Homicide Investigator and Motorcycle Officer.
In the Spring of 1993, while on routine patrol on my Harley Davidson
police motorcycle, I
was involved in a vehicle accident myself. A vehicle hit me
broadside - crushing my knee. Unfortunately, this incident was the beginning
of the end of my law enforcement career. After several major knee surgeries,
I was unable to fulfill my duties as a police officer and accepted an
honorable medical retirement from the police department in 1995.
After
leaving the department, I returned to my love of building, repairing,
and constructing. Later, I relocated to East Tennessee, an area
that I have always been fond of, and opened
C.O.P.S. Home Repair.
As a
police officer, I solved many problems for people. Whether it was
a lost child, a domestic dispute, or someone involved in a traffic
accident. Today, I continue to solve peoples problems - but in a
totally different way. Whether it's helping people improve their
home by adding a deck, installing an appliance, or a complete room
remodel, I'm at your service & I love what I do! Not only do I enjoy the actual work, I
also enjoy helping people save money and treating folks fairly, the way I
would like to be treated.
...I think
my father would be proud!
